Summary |
Switches are parameters that you can add to the HR.exe command line. They provide additional PayGlobal functionality that is not initiated from within the program. You can use switches from the run command or from the PayGlobal shortcut icon on the desktop. |
Run Command |
Use this option for one-off procedures. Example: In this example you will create a new Company database for SQL Server.
The Company Setup form appears and now you can create a new SQL company database. You can also use this method for: /reindex to start PayGlobal, but force a reindex before you log in. |
PayGlobal Shortcut Icon |
Use this option for procedures that you want to occur whenever you start PayGlobal from the shortcut icon. Example: If you add the /user=HRSETUP switch, then PayGlobal will automatically enter HRSETUP in the Login ID field every time you start PayGlobal from the shortcut. Important: You must start PayGlobal from the shortcut icon to activate the switch. In the above example, if you double-click HR.exe in Windows Explorer, then you would still have to enter the Login ID. Procedure: The following example shows how to add the /user=HRSETUP switch to the shortcut icon.

Log file |
Each time that you use one of these switches an Audit log is generated in the startup folder where you are running the application. When the process completes successfully, it is moved to the same folder as Hr.exe. However, if the process fails, then details are written to the Audit log — which will still be in the startup folder.
No dialogue boxes appear during the process. Messages that would normally appear as dialogues are written to the Audit log. Every line in the audit log shows the date and time that the process was logged. |
