Allowances - Coding Conventions

Organisation | Entitlements | Allowances

Summary

If you scroll down the Grid, and look at the allowances that have been created by your PayGlobal Consultant, you will notice that some records are separated off from others.

For example, the first record in the Grid may look similar to:

0 - ======PAYROLL======

followed by

000 - =======WORKED TIME======

and later

100 - ======LEAVE TIME======

Function

Your PayGlobal Consultant created these additional records as a way to display, in the Grid, the logic behind the allowance coding convention.

Using this logic, any allowances that are used for Worked Time will fall within the range '001' to '099'.

Allowances relating to leave fall under the range '101' to '199'.

Payroll vs Award Allowances

Your PayGlobal Consultant will also set up a broader grouping to segregate the payroll allowances from the award allowances.

For example, allowances '001' to '503' may be reserved for payroll, and 'A000' to 'A503' for the Award Interpreter/Time and Attendance component. As different awards have different entitlements for payment, there are often several award allowances used for the same purpose. For example, overtime may have eight award allowances with slightly different conditions. To simplify matters on the payroll side, there is often only one payroll overtime allowance. Each award allowance will transfer from T&A to the same payroll overtime allowance.
