Maintain Backups

Administration | Backups | Maintain Backups command

Summary

Old backup files need to be regularly deleted to free up disk space. This process is not automatically performed by PayGlobal and needs to be scheduled regularly.

Important: The database administrator should delete a database backup using a database management application. You should delete a database backup from within PayGlobal only if you do not use a database management application.

PayGlobal will not allow you to delete the three most recent backups. This safety feature ensures you have the three latest backup files available at all times. Backup files are displayed in date order.

Procedure

To delete backups:

  1. Double-click Maintain Backups.

The SQL Server Backup Maintenance window appears.

  2. Click the check box in the Delete column for the backups that you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete Tagged.
  4. Click the Restore button.

    The Admin login window appears.

  5. Complete the Username and Password.
If you are not sure which option to select, see your network support or PayGlobal Consultant.
  6. Click OK.

    A Confirm message appears:

"Are you sure you want to delete the file(s)?"

  7. Click Yes.

All tagged backups are deleted from PayGlobal.

If you try and delete one of the three most recent backups, then the following message appears:

"The following backup set(s) cannot be deleted:

    [filename].bak

as the last three backups must be retained."
