Clean Up Files

Administration | Maintenance | Clean Up Files command

Summary

PayGlobal creates a temporary semaphore file while processes are running, such as running a report. This allows PayGlobal to manage situations when different users try to perform the same process simultaneously. If two users start running the same report, then the semaphore files ensure that both reports run successfully.

PayGlobal creates the temporary files in two Temp folders:

  • DBTempPath - [database folder]\Temp\
  • TempPath - [database folder]\Temp\PgTemp\[Username]

When you start PayGlobal, most of the files in the Temp folders are deleted. However, you can use the Clean Up Files command to delete the remaining files.

Files that are deleted when you start PayGlobal

On startup, PayGlobal:

  • Deletes non-read-only files in the DBTempPath that are older than one day, and leaves read-only files and subfolders.
  • Deletes non-read-only files and subfolders in the TempPath that are older than one day, and leaves read-only files.
  • Deletes non-read-only files in the [DataBasePath]\Temp\[CompCode] folder that are older than one day.
  • Recursively deletes subfolders in the [DataBasePath]\Temp\[CompCode] folder, as long as the most recent file in the subfolder is older than one day; read-only files are not deleted.

Using the Clean up files command

The Clean Up Files command deletes all non-read-only files and subfolders in the DBTempPath (regardless of age), and leaves read-only files.

Note:

  • If your User Profiles record contains a Temporary directory override value, then the Clean Up Files command deletes all non-read-only files and subfolders in the DBTempPath and in the Temporary directory override path, but not in the default TempPath.
  • PayGlobal does not delete hidden files from the parent Temp folder.

Use the Clean Up Files command as part of your regular system maintenance.
