RPM - Remote Procedure Middleware

Summary

Remote Procedure Middleware (RPM) details are set in Company Settings.

RPM is a layer between the client application and the remote PayGlobal database. RPM is typically deployed close to the main database (on the same server or LAN switch), so that interaction with the main database is fast and network traffic is localised.

What does
RPM do?

After appropriate authentication, RPM can:

  • Synchronise with the PayGlobal database
  • Upload export files from remote branches or locations
  • Import these files into PayGlobal
  • Action simple employee maintenance.

Installing
RPM

RPM can be installed in two ways:

  • As an in-house installation
  • Outsourced via ASP

RPM Security

RPM uses its own TCP/IP port. Firewalls need to be configured to allow the client to see the server on that port. This may be an issue if your company is using an in-house LAN, but your database is hosted on an ASP Server. Your company IT department will need to allow the client PCs to initiate connections on the configured port.
