Transaction Entry - Casuals (Aus)

Transaction View | Employee View | Insert Allowance

Summary

Casual employees are employees without permanent hours but who generally work on an 'as required' basis.

Although paying casual employees is identical to paying permanent employees, there are several differences in the way they are first set up which you need to be aware of when making payments to them.

Setting up Casual Employees
  • Set Employee status to Casual on the Payroll | Contract tab. This is for the purposes of the Statistics report.
  • Set Auto-pay to No on the Payroll | Payments tab to stop any payments being automatically generated when a standard pay is opened.
  • Casual employees are not required to have profiled hours on the Payroll | Payments tab.
  • Attach them to an annual leave table that on the Setup tab, has the Annual leave pay employee type field set to Casual. This annual leave table type automatically pays out an employee's leave entitlement each time they are paid.

If you want casual employees to accrue annual leave, attach them to a proportional annual leave table.

These points are guide lines only which may vary from Company to Company. For example, casual employees at some organisations would use profiled hours.

Superannuation Guarantee

Employers are exempt from making Superannuation Guarantee contributions to employees whose salary or wages are less than the minimum monthly figure stipulated by the ATO.
