PGPRMISC901 - Survey of Avg Weekly Earnings (AUS)

Reports | Report Groups | PGPRMISC | PGPRMISC901 - Survey of Avg Weekly Earnings

Summary

The Survey of Avg Weekly Earnings report is prepared for the Australian Bureau of Statistic (ABS). It provides the ABS with information on earnings for all employees in an organisation who received pay for any part of the last pay period, before a date specified by the ABS.

The report displays weekly amounts, so employee earnings may need to be divided by frequency. For example, if an employee is paid fortnightly, the amount is divided by two.

Important: You can run this report on closed pay sequences only.

Report Sections

The report contains the following four sections:

Part A - Number of Employees

Displays the total number of employees who received at least one allowance where the Include in statistics reports field = "Yes", or who had a deduction where the Deduction class = "D.Salary sacrifice deduction".

Part B - Weekly Salary Sacrificed Earnings

Displays totals for salary sacrificed earnings of employees who have at least one deduction transaction in the period where the Deduction class = "D.Salary sacrifice deduction".

Part C - Taxable Gross Weekly Earnings, including Overtime

Displays totals for taxable gross weekly earnings, including overtime. The sub-total is calculated by summing all employee allowances where Taxable = "Yes" and Include in statistics reports = "Yes".

Part D - Weekly Overtime Earnings for Full-Time Adult Employees

Displays totals for overtime earnings. The sub-total is calculated by summing all employee allowances where Type = "H.Hourly" or "R.Salary", and Ordinary = "No", and Include in statistics reports = "Yes".

Employee Classification

This section describes the employee classifications used in each section of the report.

Full-time adult

Employees who work full-time (35 hours a week and above), and are 21 years of age or older.

Note: If the Date of birth field on the Employees record is empty, PayGlobal assumes the employee is 21 years of age or older.

All other employees

Includes part-time and casual employees, and also full-time employees who are under 21 years of age.

Gender

If no gender is selected on the Employees record, the report groups the values into the “Gender not specified” sub-total.

Taxable gross weekly earnings

Taxable gross weekly earnings refers to the gross earnings for the particular reference period for all permanent, temporary, casual, managerial and executive weekly employees before taxation and other deductions have been made. In the PayGlobal database, this is all allowances where Paying = "Yes" and Taxable = "Yes".

According to the ABS, some payments (allowances) should be excluded when calculating gross weekly earnings. For example, backpay, severance, termination, redundancy, expense reimbursements, leave loading, and one-off bonuses. You can view the full list of exclusions on the Survey of Average Weekly Earnings form.

To ensure that the figures for Taxable gross weekly earnings are accurate, you need to set the Include in statistics reports field to "Yes" for the applicable paying, taxable allowances.
