Summary

If you attempt to save a new employee record before you complete the compulsory fields, then the Standard Employee Fields form appears.

Fields

Minimum wage exempt:

Indicates if the employee is exempt from minimum wage compliance checks by PayGlobal.

• Not exempt (default)
• Permit holder
• Other

If you set this field to "Permit holder" or "Other", PayGlobal will exclude the employee from the minimum wage compliance check when you open or process a pay.

Important: If Minimum wage exempt = "Other", you must be able to prove to a labour inspector that you are paying the employee the legal minimum rate to which they are entitled.

Minimum wage exempt reason:

Enabled when Minimum wage exempt is set to "Other". You must select a reason from the pick list.

Note: If an appropriate Reasons record does not exist, then you need to create one.

Minimum wage rate category:

Indicates if the employee meets the criteria for starting-out exceptions.

• Standard

  Default value for employee based on their age.

• Qualifying beneficiary

  Employees who are 18 or 19 years old, who have been on a benefit for six months or more and have not yet completed six months continuous work with the same employer.

• Minimum service completed

  Pre-May 2013: Employee has completed 3 months or 200 hours of employment.

  Post-May 2013: Employee has completed 6 months of continuous service with the same employer.

• Supervisor/Trainer

  Employee is employed to supervise or train other workers.

• Specialist trainee

  Employee is employed under contracts of service which require them to undergo training, instruction or examination for the purposes of becoming qualified for the occupation to which their contract of service relates. Employee is entitled to be paid at the legal minimum training wage.

  Important: If the employee completes their minimum service in the pay, PayGlobal changes this field from "Standard" to "Minimum service completed" when you close the pay for employees.

Age:

Employee's age is displayed if you have entered a Date of birth. PayGlobal calculates age against today's date. The age is not stored in the database and is calculated only when you view this tab page.
