Rostered Accrual

Summary

The Rostered Accrual method accrues a fraction of the employee's profiled hours or days, multiplied by the Entitlement (weeks) and the length of the current pay period over the length of the total leave period.

Rostered accruals occur in Standard pays only.

Used for

This method of unit accrual is available for:

  • Annual leave tables.
  • Sick leave tables.
  • Long service leave tables.

Procedure

To calculate the total accrued for the current leave period when Method of unit accrual = Rost:

  1. Calculate the entitled profiled units, by multiplying the profiled days or hours from the employee profile by the Entitlement (weeks) as entered in the Values tab:

    Non-zero days * Entitlement (Weeks) (for 'Days')
    -or-
    Total hours * Entitlement (Weeks) (for 'Hours')

  2. Divide the number of days in the pay period by the total number of days in the leave period:

    Days in the Pay Period / Number of days in the leave period

    Note: If Days in this pay period is less than or equal to 14 days, Days in this AL cycle = 364.

  3. Derive the accrued for the current period by multiplying the entitled profiled hours (or days) (step 1) by (step 2):

    Entitled profiled hours * Step 2

  4. Determine the value of Total accrued prior to the current pay period close.
  5. Calculate the Total accrued for the current leave period by adding the current pay period accrual to the value of Total accrued at the last pay:

    Current accrued (step 3) + Last Total accrued (step 4)

Example

For example, a weekly employee:

  • Accrues units in hours
  • Is entitled to 4 weeks' annual leave
  • Has 3 0profiled hours per week
  • Has a current balance of Nett accrued since the last pay of 45 hours.

The calculation would be:

30 * 4 = 120 hours

7 / 364 = 0.01923

120 * 0.01912 = 2.3076 hours

45 + 2.3076 = 47.3076 hours accrued at the close of the current pay period.
