Summary

The listed below are the conditions required for Microsoft SQL Server and its recommended configuration.

Pre-Sales Conditions

The following pre-sales conditions apply for PayGlobal on Microsoft SQL Server:

• Microsoft SQL Server 2014 or above must be installed.

  Note: PayGlobal does not support Microsoft SQL Server Express or SQL Server 2012 and earlier versions.

• PayGlobal is not responsible for installing SQL Server.
• PayGlobal cannot be the first SQL Server installation on the site.
• A qualified Database Administrator (DBA) must be available.
• The System Administrator is able to access confidential payroll information.

Implementation Conditions

If a client needs SQL Server installed to use PayGlobal, but they do not have a DBA, then PayGlobal will recommend an independent SQL specialist.

The SQL installation, implementation and SQL Server policy setup, is a separate project to the PayGlobal implementation.

Note: PayGlobal does not manage or take responsibility for the SQL project.

The SQL implementation parties will continue support for SQL Server issues.

Note: PayGlobal Support is not expected to solve SQL implementation issues.

General Database Administrator (DBA) Tasks

The following general administrative tasks apply to all SQL Server databases; they are not specific to the PayGlobal application.

• Back up the whole database to disk every day and transfer the backup to tape.
• Back up the transaction log hourly (optional — requires database option changes).
• Run weekly database consistency checks (DBCC).
• Reindex the database daily or weekly (database defragmentation).
• Regularly review SQL Server error logs and Windows Event logs.
