Summary

Records in PayGlobal can have links to documents that are stored outside the PayGlobal system.

For example, you could create a link between an employee record in PayGlobal and an employee's resume stored as a Microsoft Word document elsewhere on your system.

You can also create a new document from within the Documents tab page.

Troubleshooting

A record must be saved in PayGlobal before you can add a Document link.

Creating a link to a document
  1. Select the record that you want to create a link to. For example, an employee record.
  2. Press Insert to reach the Windows Explorer Open box.
  3. Double-click on the document that you want to create a link to.
  4. The document link is now added as a record on the Documents tab page.

To view a document

In Edit mode, double-click the document that you want to view.

Update Documents from file

When you highlight a document and then click the right mouse button, you will see a menu option called Update Document from File.

When you open a document from within PayGlobal, PayGlobal places a copy of this document into the PayGlobal database Temp folder. You can work on the document and save it from there.

Each time this document is updated, PayGlobal replaces any existing file from the Temp folder only. When you log out of PayGlobal, this Temp file is deleted.

Illegal Characters

If PayGlobal detects illegal characters in the document filename, PayGlobal replaces these characters with an underscore.

For example, 1000(Smith,John)Payslip is changed to 1000_Smith_John_PaySlip
