Document Optimiser

Summary

Adding large documents to your database can decrease the performance of the system over time. Many documents can have their file size reduced with just a small trade-off in quality.

When adding an image file, you are prompted to take action if the file is deemed to be too large:

  • If the image file size is greater than 250kb, you will be prompted whether you wish to optimise your image or not. If you choose to optimise your image, you will be presented with the Document Optimiser window. If you choose not to optimise your image, your image will be attached unchanged.
  • If the image file size is greater than 5MB, you will be prompted to optimise your image. You will then be presented with the Optimiser window. If you choose not to optimise your image, your image will not be saved.

When optimising your image, consider reducing the image dimensions and compression as much as possible while still retaining legibility of your image. It is also possible to crop the image to include only the relevant area. When you’ve finished optimising your image, click the ‘Accept changes’ button.
