Backups

Administration | Backups

Summary

Accidental or intentional data loss or corruption can be minimised by regular backups of your system data files.

Important: The database administrator should manage database backups using a database management application. You should backup a database from within PayGlobal only if you do not use a database management application.

When to use

Always backup your database:

  • Before closing a pay.
  • After entering large amounts of data.
  • Before making any system changes.
  • Before any significant changes are made to your database, for example, before synchronising data.

Backup Filename

The SQL Server backup uses a prefix of the company number from the hr.ini file. For example, a backup taken at 9:46am on 14 June 2009 for COMP0001 would be PG0001_20090614_094600.bak. The full file name is displayed in the Backup, Restore, and Maintain Backups windows.
