Reindex and Pack

Administration | Maintenance | Reindex and Pack command

Summary

Reindexing and packing:

  • Removes all deleted records from the database. Although you may delete a record during normal operation, it is not actually removed from the system until a Reindex and Pack has been performed.
  • Resorts and consolidates the remaining database records.
  • Reindexes the database.

Why reindex and pack?

Regularly performing a Reindex and Pack keeps your database in optimum condition by clearing out deleted records and consolidating the remaining remaining records.

Why not just
a standard reindex?

Standard Reindexing creates an ordered list of data files and where they can be found in PayGlobal. It does not remove deleted records or compact the database.

Standard Reindex is a quicker process than Reindex and Pack.

Procedure
  1. You need sole access to PayGlobal before you reindex and pack, to prevent data corruption.
  2. Double-click the Reindex and Pack command. PayGlobal checks that you want to reindex and pack the database.
  3. Select Yes to continue with the reindex and pack.
