Configure Schedule Server

Summary

PayGlobal Schedule Server is an application that is designed to run continuously on the application server (if it is a windows server) or on a separate workstation that can access PayGlobal.

Procedure
  1. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to PayGlobalScheduleServer.exe in the executable folder.
  2. Double-click PayGlobalScheduleServer.exe.
  3. Click the Configuration tab.

You will use this tab page to configure Schedule Server.

Fields
HR.INI Filename:

Type the full path to HR.ini. Schedule Server will check for schedules in every database in the specified HR.ini.

Company.INI Filename:

If you are using Scheduler for multiple versions of PayGlobal, then enter the full path to the Company.INI file. If this field is empty, then Scheduler defaults to the HR.INI Filename path.

Check Between:

Schedule Server can run continuously, but you can set a time range to limit when it runs. For example, you can set the time range so that Schedule Server does not run during tape backups.

Delay(min):

Controls how often Schedule Server checks the database.

If you specify 10, then Schedule Server checks the database for schedules every 10 minutes. A task scheduled to run at 3am may not actually run until 3:08am.

Max. Log size (lines):

You can limit the maximum number of lines in the Schedule Server log file.

If you do not want to limit the log size, then type 0.

Schedule Init. Timeout (sec):

Defines the period after which a schedule will time out if it is hanging. Default value is 60 seconds and maximum field length is three digits. If you enter an invalid value, the field reverts to "60".

If a schedule times out, an error is logged to the pgss.log file in the directory where you installed Schedule Server.

Check Now:

Click the Check Now button to check that the Schedule Server is working.

Click the Log tab for details.

If Scheduler appears to be doing nothing, then it may be unable to find the databases.

Update Settings:

Click the Update Settings button to save the changes that you made on the Configuration tab to the pgss.ini file.

Service Options
Run as service:

Click the Run as service checkbox to activate the next two buttons.

If you want to run Scheduler as a service, then the machine that is running Scheduler must have:

  • Access rights to the PayGlobal executables
  • Full access rights to the databases.
Install Service:

Click the Install Service button to install the PayGlobal Schedule Service.

An information box appears: Service installed successfully.

When the service is installed, check that the service is started. Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services.

Click the Uninstall Service button to uninstall the PayGlobal Schedule Service.

An information box appears: Service uninstalled successfully.
