User-Defined Fields - Calculation

Administration | User-Defined Fields | Calculation tab

Summary

PayGlobal can calculate a UDF based on the field values entered in the Calculation tab.

The Calculation field is only active when the following criteria are met:

On the Details (i) tab:

  • Entity = 'Employee'
  • Data type = 'Double' or 'Currency'.

On the Accumulation tab:

  • Accumulator = 'No'.

Fields
Calculation:

Select either 'Yes' to make this a 'calculated' UDF or 'No' to allow the UDF to be an accumulator. To enable the remaining fields on this tab, you must select 'Yes'.

Field type 1 and Field type 2:

Select either 'UDA' or 'Employee field'. Your selection determines whether PayGlobal activates the UDA Field (1 or 2) or Employee Field (1 or 2).

UDA Field 1 and UDA Field 2:

Use these pick lists to select from a list of User-Defined Accumulators that currently exist in your database. You can select from these lists or you can create a new UDA.

Employee Field 1 and Employee Field 2:

Use the combo box to select from lists of fields associated with the employee table within your database. You can select from these lists or you can create a new UDF.

Operator:

Select Add, Subtract, Multiply or Divide.

Number of weeks:

If you select 'UDA' for either of the Field type 1 or Field type 2 fields, then you must enter a value into the Number of weeks field.
PayGlobal creates a value for Field type 1 or Field type 2 by totaling the UDA breakdown records for the number of weeks entered in this field.

Rank:

If a calculated UDF uses the results of another calculated UDF, then you can use ranking to ensure that they are processed in the correct order.

Calculate UDF / F9

To apply the UDF calculation, press the F9 key or click your right mouse button on the User-Defined Fields form and select Calculate UDF.

PayGlobal immediately updates the field value of the Employee UDF field.

Use this command after creating new calculated UDFs or after editing existing UDFs.
