Quick Search

For simple queries using one clause with an equals (=) operator, you can use the Quick Search toolbar.

The drop-down box field on the left contains a list of field names for the entity you selected. For example, if you were on the Allowances entity, then the list would contains field names such as Allowance Code and Allowance Group Code.

The pick list field on the right has a pick list of possible options for the field name that you select. However, drop-down box or free-text fields do not have pick lists so you have to type a value in the field. The value that you type must match the value used in the database or your Quick Search will not work. For example, if you search by the Gender field, then you must type F or Female to find female employees. If you type a lower case f or female, then your Quick Search will not find any employees.

For example, to search for all employees who work in Department 03:

1. In the (Field to search by) drop-down list, type dep to select Department Code.
2. In the (Value to search for) pick list, type 03.
3. Click Go! to activate the query.

   Only employees in Department 03 are displayed.

   

    

4. Click Clear to deactivate the query.
