The Minimum Wage tab contains all the fields relating to an employee's minimum wage status. It records whether an employee is exempt from receiving any of the minimum wage rates defined in the Minimum Wages records. |

These fields are displayed in New Zealand databases only. Minimum wage exempt:Indicates if the employee is exempt from minimum wage compliance checks by PayGlobal. Select from:
If you set this field to "Permit holder" or "Other", PayGlobal will exclude the employee in the minimum wage compliance check when you open or process a pay. Important: If Minimum wage exempt = "Other", you must be able to prove to a labour inspector that you are paying the employee the legal minimum rate to which they are entitled. Minimum wage exempt reason:Mandatory when Minimum wage exempt is set to "Other". Select reason from pick list. Note: If an appropriate Reason Code does not exist, you need to create a new Reasons record. Minimum wage rate type:Calculated field (view-only) that determines the minimum wage rate applied to the employee.
Minimum wage rate category:If an employee is under 20 years of age, they may be eligible to earn the starting-out rate, in accordance with the Minimum Wage Amendment Bill. The starting-out rate is 80% of the adult minimum wage. If the employee meets certain exception criteria, they are entitled to earn the adult minimum wage rate.
Pay processing checks whether the employee meets any of the above exception criteria. If the employee meets one of the criterion and is not receiving the correct minimum rate, a warning message appears in the audit log. Start date:Non-editable field which displays the employee's employment start date. Age:Employee's age is displayed if you have entered a Date of birth. PayGlobal calculates age against employee's last paid date. If no last paid date exists, PayGlobal uses today's date. The age is not stored in the database and it is calculated only when you view this tab page. Note: In accordance with the Minimum Wage Act, you must record the employee's date of birth if they are under 20 years of age. Total completed months:Displays the employee's current length of service for the employer in months. This read-only field is displayed only when Minimum wage rate category = "Standard" or "Qualifying beneficiary", and the employee is between 16 and 19 years old. |
