Salary Bands - Range Details

Human Resources | Position Management | Job Evaluation Details | Salary Bands | Range Details tab

Summary

The Range Details tab page records the values provided by your consulting firm to calculate the remuneration range appropriate for a Salary Band.

Fields
Job size min and max:

The parameters within which a job size must fall to be included in a Salary Band. Supplied by your consulting firm.

Band average points:

There are two ways to complete this field:

  • Use the Band average points supplied by your consulting firm.
  • Manually enter Band average points and then press Enter to reach the Slope value field. Manually entering the Band average points automatically updates the calculations on the right-hand side generated by PayGlobal. These are:

    Salary range midpoint

    Remuneration min

    Remuneration max

You can also change other settings such as the remuneration spread values to update the above values.

Slope value:

The Slope value provided by your consulting firm. Slope is the value that the graph line increases for every point increase (e.g. $50).

Constant:

The Constant value supplied by your consulting firm. Constant is the value where the line crosses the y-axis of the graph at zero points (e.g. $18,000).

Remuneration policy:
  • Base salary

    Salary only

  • Total fixed remuneration

Excludes any bonuses or variable payments

  • Total remuneration

    Includes all remuneration

With a spread from and to:

The spread range that an evaluation is based on. These values are user defined according to an organisation's remuneration policy. Typically a spread of plus or minus 20% of the salary mid point is used, providing for between 80% and 120% of the salary mid point being paid to the Work Area Position associated with a Job Evaluation.

Salary range midpoint:

This value populates automatically based on the Band average points, slope and constant values.

Remuneration min and Remuneration max:

These values populate automatically based on the Salary range midpoint multiplied by the remuneration range spread (defined in the lower part of the screen).
