Summary

There can be thousands of different positions in an organisation sharing similar traits. PayGlobal uses Position Groups and Classifications to make it easier to deal with large numbers of similar Positions. Use Position Groups in conjunction with Position Classifications or as a stand-alone entity.

Positions are grouped in the Details tab of a Position record.

Position Classifications and Position Groups

Use Classifications and Levels to create a vertical structure for an organisation:

  • Executive
  • Senior Management
  • Middle Management

Groups could specify the nature of the Position:

  • Support
  • Technical
  • Clerical

The optimum setup for Position Classifications depends on the specific needs of your organisation.

Using Position Groups

For example, an organisation wants to use Position Groups to separate technical positions from non-technical positions. A quick and easy way to perform this task is to use the Model Field function.

  1. Navigate to the Details tab page of the first non-technical position record. Check you are in View mode.
  2. Check that the Group field contains the code for non-technical positions. If it does not, change to Edit mode and insert the code. Change back to View mode. Right-click the Group field to see the menu.
  3. Select Model Field to see the Select Positions window.
  4. Tag the check boxes for the non-technical positions. Click OK, then click Save + Close to return to the positions Grid.
  5. Double-click the first technical position record to reach the Details tab page.
  6. Right-click the Group field to see the menu.
  7. Select Model Field to see the Select Positions window.
  8. Tag the check boxes for the technical positions. Click OK.
  9. Click Save + Close to return to the Positions Grid.
