PayGlobal uses the award rate attached to an employee file to calculate their pay.

Fields
Rate:

This is the rate of pay that will be applied to employees attached to an Award. See Allowance Transaction Hierarchy or Deduction Transaction Hierarchy for further information.

Rate amount:

This amount will populate the Rate Amount field in the transaction whenever the rate code above is used. Typically this will be in a Permanent Transaction.

The Rate Amount field in a transaction is also automatically completed if it is the first record within the effective date range, and if there are no other records at a higher level in the hierarchy.

Effective start and end dates:

If the award is to apply for a specified period of time only, enter the date range here.

PayGlobal will use award details for transactions belonging to employees on an award for the specified date range only.

Reason:

Use this field to link the reason that a pay change is required in an award. For example, 'Negotiations'.

Comment:

A text based field for additional comments regarding this tab page.

Inactive:
We recommend keeping a history of the rates applied during the course of an award. Award rates should not be deleted.

Use this field to flag a rate as no longer being applicable to an award.

  • Yes

    Rate is no longer used.

  • No

Rate is current and will be actively used in transactions.

Validation

PayGlobal validates the entry and editing of effective start and end dates and looks for any overlaps of the same rate code. An error will occur if there are overlaps and the user must either enter a valid date range for the new record or change the existing active record prior to inserting the new one.

If inserting a new record, the system will also automatically end date the old record that contains the same rate code.

Inactive rates are ignored for validation purposes.
