Import Reports

Reports | Import Reports

Summary

When you install or upgrade PayGlobal, it installs a new report catalogue (tmrr.zip) in the PayGlobal executable folder. After you install or upgrade PayGlobal, you need to run the Import Reports command to import report definitions from the new catalogue to update your report tables.

After you install PayGlobal for the first time, you need to run:

  1. Import Reports to import report definitions from the report catalogue (tmrr.zip) to update your report tables.
  2. Create Standard Report Groups to organise the reports into default Report Groups.
  3. Update Report Definitions Table to refresh your report definitions.

After you upgrade PayGlobal, you need to run:

  1. Import Reports to import report definitions from the new report catalogue (tmrr.zip) to update your report tables.
  2. Update Report Definitions Table to refresh your report definitions.

Important: Do not run Create Standard Report Groups after you upgrade because it removes report destination and sorting settings.

Rept Folders

Your PayGlobal installation has two Rept folders:

  • The Rept folder in your data folder that contains designer reports or edited report definitions.
  • The Rept folder in your executable folder contains the most recently imported report definitions.

When you run a report, PayGlobal checks the data Rept folder before the executable Rept folder.

Upgrading

If you upgrade PayGlobal, then before you import reports, you must complete the following procedures to ensure that you do not loose your existing reports.

  • Copy the Rept folder in your original data folder to your upgraded data folder.
  • Copy the Rept folder in your executable folder to your upgraded executable folder.

If you have reports in the data Rept folder for an old version of PayGlobal, then they may not run correctly with the updated executable.

If the data Rept folder contains a standard PayGlobal report that is updated in the new version, then PayGlobal will run the old version of the report - not the updated report in the executable Rept folder. You should delete standard PayGlobal reports in the data Rept folder.

Before you upgrade, you should run any designer reports in a test environment to ensure that they run correctly in the upgrade version.

Procedure

To import report definitions:

  1. Double-click Import Reports.

    The Import Reports form appears.

  2. Click Import.

The Open box appears, showing the contents of the PayGlobal executable folder.

Note: If the PayGlobal executable folder is not displayed, then navigate to it.

  3. Double-click the upgrade report ZIP file: tmrr[version number].zip.

Note: The PayGlobal executable folder can contain several versions of the ZIP files, but you must select the ZIP file that corresponds to your current version. PayGlobal checks that the report catalogue contains the file PGGenuineRepts.NZ. If you select a file other than the report catalogue, such as the Workflow catalogue, then the following error appears:
"Authenticity failure: Please obtain an ORIGINAL report catalogue archive".

The Import Reports box appears. The run command extracts the reports from the ZIP file to the Rept folder in the executable folder.

    The following Information message appears:
    "Importing completed".

  4. Press Enter or click OK to return to the Reports folder.

Troubleshooting

If you do not import reports when you first install PayGlobal, or when you upgrade, then you may experience the following problems with some reports:

  • Tab pages missing from report settings
  • Errors occur when you try to run reports
  • Reports running blank.

If you are unsure whether you have imported reports, then run Import Reports to ensure that you have the most recent definitions.
