Import SpreadSheets

SpreadSheets | Import SpreadSheets command

Summary

SpreadSheets are distributed in a .CAT (catalogue) file that you import into the SpreadSheets table. After you import the SpreadSheets, you need to run the following commands:

When you import a spreadsheet catalogue, PayGlobal imports only the definitions that you are registered for.

Procedure
  1. Double-click the Import SpreadSheets command.

    The Import SpreadSheets box appears.

  2. Click Import.

The Open box appears showing the contents of the PayGlobal folder.

Note: If the PayGlobal folder is not displayed, then navigate to it.

  3. Double-click the SpreadSheets catalogue file, for example, tmss1.94.0007.0514.cat.

Important: You must import the SpreadSheet catalogue for the PayGlobal version that you are currently using.

The Import SpreadSheets box appears. The run command extracts the reports from the catalogue file to the SpreadSheet folder in the application folder.

    The following Information message appears:
    'Importing completed'.

  4. Press Enter or click OK to return to the main PayGlobal window.

Import checking process

Every SpreadSheet definition has a HASH file. During the import process, PayGlobal uses the HASH files to determine whether any changes have been made to your SpreadSheet definition files.

When you import SpreadSheet definitions from a catalogue, the following checks occur:

  1. PayGlobal scans the SpreadSheet folder in your company database for the definitions that you are registered to use.
  2. PayGlobal compares the HASH for the definition in your company database with the HASH for the definition in the catalogue.
    • If the HASH files are the same, then PayGlobal imports the definitions from the catalogue.
    • If the HASH files are different, then you have modified the definition in your company database. PayGlobal compares the HASH for the original definition with the HASH for the catalogue definition.
    • If these definitions are the same, then PayGlobal Development has not changed the definition since your last import.
PayGlobal asks whether you want to replace your modified definition with the original definition.
    • If these definitions are different, then PayGlobal Development has changed the definition since your last import.
PayGlobal informs you of the difference and asks whether you want to:
    • Upgrade to the latest PayGlobal definition and then reapply your modifications.
    • Keep your modified definition.
  3. PayGlobal repeats this process for the definitions in the SpreadSheet folder in the PayGlobal application folder.
If you have a definition in the company data SpreadSheet folder and in the PayGlobal application folder SpreadSheet folder, then PayGlobal uses the company data folder version first.

Important: We recommend that you replace your modified definition with the latest PayGlobal definition because of the dependencies between the hard-coded and Excel parts of the SpreadSheet.
