Company Settings - FTP

Administration | Modify Company Settings command | General | Comms | FTP tab

Fields

Important: Usually only hosted clients require these settings. They are usually set up by a PayGlobal Consultant or network administrator and should not be changed without consultation.

This tab page has two sections:

  • Transfer File Defaults
  • Proxy Settings

Fields
Transfer File Defaults

Settings for reports and files using FTP (File Transfer Protocol), such as transferring a file for direct credit banking.

Protocol:

Choose which transfer protocol your FTP server supports.

  • FTPS - Implicit
  • FTPS - Explicit
  • SFTP

Note: It is strongly recommended that you use Secure FTP (SFTP) for file transfers where available.

Server:

IP address or host name of the FTP server.

Port:

Port that will be used for the file transfer. Changing the 'Protocol' field above will change the default value in this field as follows:

  • Port 990 - FTPS - Implicit
  • Port 21 - FTPS - Explicit
  • Port 22 - SFTP

Note: These defaults will be re-applied every time a protocol is selected, even if the previous value was user-entered.

FTP Mode:

Select either Active or Passive, depending on what your FTP server allows. Generally, it is advisable to use Passive where available.

This field will be disabled if the protocol selected is 'SFTP'.

Important: If you use a Proxy Server, Passive mode will be enforced regardless of what is selected in this field.

TimeOut:

The file transfer will time out if no activity occurs after this number of seconds.

Username and Password:

The username and password of the FTP account to use. These fields are mandatory when using FTP.

Directory:

The sub directory where the files will be transferred to.

Note: When using the SFTP protocol, ensure that any folders specified already exist as these will not be created automatically by the file upload process.

Proxy Settings:

If your organisation uses a proxy server, then your IT department will provide the settings for these fields.
