Sick Leave Tables - Setup (NZ)

Payroll | Leave Setup | Sick Leave Tables | Setup tab

Fields
Outstanding unit payout rate/rule:

PayGlobal uses this rate or rule to pay out outstanding sick leave units. Outstanding sick leave is the number of units that an employee became entitled to in previous years. The rate or rule used depends on the sick leave accrual unit (hours or days) for the employee. The accrual unit is specified in the Sick Leave Tables | Values tab | Type of unit field. Sick leave is usually paid out standard rates.

Important: The rate or rule that you select must correspond with the Values tab | Type of unit value.

Accrued unit payout rate/rule:

PayGlobal uses this rate or rule to pay out accrued sick leave. Accrued units are sick leave units that an employee is earning in their current year. The rate or rule used depends on the sick leave accrual unit (hours or days) for the employee. The accrual unit is specified in the Sick Leave Tables | Values tab | Type of unit field. Sick leave is usually paid out at standard rates.

Important: The rate or rule that you select must correspond with the Values tab | Type of unit value.

Keep details on termination:
  • Yes

PayGlobal retains the employee's sick leave details when the employee is terminated.

  • No

PayGlobal clears the employee's sick leave details after the employee is terminated.

Days in this SL cycle:

Enabled when the or months field is blank. This value is the number of days in this sick leave cycle.

Important: You must complete either the Days in this SL cycle field or the or months field.

or months:

Enabled when the Days in this SL cycle field is blank. This value is the number of months in this sick leave cycle. If the employment contract specifies the leave cycle as a period of months, then use the or months option because it is more accurate than using Days in this SL cycle.

Next table on cycle end (optional):

If you leave this field blank, then the sick leave table will roll on to itself at the end of the sick leave cycle. If you select a sick leave table code in this field, then PayGlobal will roll attached employees onto this table at the end of the sick leave cycle.

Note: The length of the sick leave cycle is determined by the Days in this SL cycle/or months value.

Use Reduce by value for AL qualifying hours:

If the sick leave allowance Details (iii) | Include in Annual Leave = "Yes", then the employee's sick leave will contribute to their annual leave Gross Qualifying, and Total hours paid.

  • Yes

Use this option only for sick leave tables that accrue in days. PayGlobal uses the Reduce by unit value not the Units to be paid value to calculate the qualifying hours and FTE hours. Use this option when you want to use one unit type to pay out leave and another unit type to reduce the leave. For example, if the Sick Leave Table | Setup | Entitlement unit = "Days", then you can pay sick leave in hours, but reduce sick leave in days. This setup would ensure that the leave entitlement qualifying hours for proportional annual leave employees is based on hours not days.

  • No

PayGlobal uses the Units to be paid value to calculate the qualifying hours and FTE hours.

Convert AL qualifying hours using type of unit:
  • Yes

Use this option only for sick leave tables that accrue in days. PayGlobal uses the employee's average profiled hours/day to calculate the Hours worked and Qualifying hours values from the annual leave transaction pay quantity, which is a day value.

Important: The employee must have profiled hours/days.

  • No

    Default option.
