Sick Leave Tables

Payroll | Leave Setup | Sick Leave Tables

Summary

Employees can be entitled to a range of different conditions relating to sick leave entitlements. You can use the sick leave tables to create a set of conditions that meet your organisation's range of sick leave requirements. Then you use the Employees | Leave tab page to attach each employee record to their appropriate sick leave table. Employees accrue sick leave on their Sick Leave tab page.

Setting up Sick Leave Tables

Sick leave usually accrues on an anniversary basis, not on a pay period basis as other leave does. The settings required to give employees their entitlement based on anniversary differ from those used for entitlements based on pay period. If employees receive their entitlement on anniversary, then PayGlobal credits them with the values in the post-roll over table - not the values in the pre-roll over table.

Example

A company has the following sick leave conditions:

  • When an employee completes six months of service, they receive 40 hours' sick leave.
  • After the initial six-month period employees receive 56 hours' sick leave every 12 months.
  • Sick leave entitlement needs to be calculated for full-time and part-time workers.

In this scenario, you would create the following sick leave tables:

Sick Leave Table

Requirements

Full Time - 6 months

A holding table with zero values. At the completion of six months' service, the full-time employee rolls onto the first 12-month table, which holds 40 hours.

Full Time - 12 months (a)

At the completion of 18 months' service, the full-time employee rolls onto the second 12-month table, which holds 56 hours.

Full Time - 12 months (b)

The full-time employee continues to roll onto this table. This table provides an entitlement of 56 hours at 30 months' service and at 12-month intervals after that.

Part Time - 6 months

A holding table with zero values. At the completion of six months' service, the part-time employee rolls onto the first 12-month table, which holds a proportional rate of 40 hours.

Part Time - 12 months (a)

At the completion of 18 months' service, the part-time employee rolls onto the second 12-month table, which holds a proportional rate of 56 hours.

Part Time - 12 months (b)

The employee continues to roll onto this table. This table provides a proportional entitlement of 56 hours at 30 months service and at 12-month intervals after that.

Note: The accrual method for each table will vary according to the requirements of your organisation.
