Cost Centres - Costing

Organisation | Costings | Cost Centres | Costing tab

Summary

The Costing tab records the Total amount and Total FTE hours for the cost centre. PayGlobal recalculates these values when you process a pay, but it does not update the values displayed until you close the pay.

You can also record the Budgeted amount and Budgeted FTE hours for the cost centre. When you process a pay, PayGlobal checks the total values against the budgeted values, and warns you the cost centre is over budget.

Fields
Budget Centre:

Budget centres are usually based on cost centre groups.

Total amount:

Total amount for the cost centre.

Budgeted amount:

Total budgeted amount for the cost centre.

Total FTE hours:

PayGlobal calculates FTE hours at transaction level and at transaction master level (total FTE hours for the pay) to identify the FTE hours for each cost centre.

Budgeted FTE hours:

Total budgeted FTE hours for the cost centre.

Operating Cost:

Yes/No field that determines whether the cost centre is included as an operating cost in the PGPRHIST050 - Minimum Data Set report.

Pay processing

When you process a pay, PayGlobal updates the Total amount and Total FTE hours values for cost centres. If you use proportional costing or you split allowances by allowance groups, then PayGlobal will split FTE hours along with other transaction amounts.

If the total processed transactions for a cost centre exceed the Budgeted amount and/or Budgeted FTE hours values, then pay processing is successful, but a warning appears in the audit log.

See Processing Cost Centres and Jobs for further information.

Tax year-end procedures

If you use the Costing tab fields, then as part of your tax year-end procedures, you must:

  1. Clear the values from the Total amount and Total FTE hours fields to restart them for the new year.
  2. Enter Budgeted amount and Budgeted FTE hours values for the new year.
