Award Rule Makeups - Details

Organisation | Entitlements | Awards | Rules tab | Add or Edit | Details tab

Summary

PayGlobal can be further enhanced with the use of Award Rules. Award rules save time and data entry by automating processes within PayGlobal.

Award rules are used primarily for the T&A component of PayGlobal as opposed to Award Payroll Rules that deal with the processing of employee payments.

Editing Fields

We recommend that you do not alter the values set on this tab page. They have been constructed by your PayGlobal Consultant in accordance with the requirements of an award used by your organisation. Severe impact could result from changes made here.

Fields
Award Rule Code:

This is the award rule that was created by your PayGlobal Consultant to deal with a situation required under the terms of an award.

Rank:

PayGlobal uses a numeric, then alpha ordering system to apply rules. It uses the value in this field to determine when, in the context of all rules set for an award, a particular rule should be applied. For example, a rule with rank '1A' is applied before rank 'A'.

Unranked rules are processed before ranked rules.

Next:

If the award rule selected above fails the filtering selection, this field instructs PayGlobal which award rule to look at next.

For example, if the conditions of Award Rule 1 are met, PayGlobal will go to Award Rule 2. However, if the conditions of Award Rule 1 are not met, and Award Rule 8 is specified in the 'Next' field, then PayGlobal will go to Award Rule 8.

Rostering, Actuals:

These fields specify whether or not award rules apply to Rostering and/or Actuals.

Validate Roster, Validate Actuals:

Your PayGlobal Consultant can set up specific rules that check all criteria in a Roster or in Actuals. For example, a rule may activate a warning message for any employees that are not rostered for more than 48 hours in a period.

Breakdown Roster:

Used for Labour Budgeting. If this field is Yes, then payments generated from the Timeband will contain a start time and an end time. The award rule for rosters will generate an hourly allowance.

Breakdown Actuals:

Used for Labour Budgeting. If this field is Yes, then payments generated from the Timeband will contain a start time and an end time. The award rule for Actuals will generate an hourly allowance.

For example:

A 09:00 to 16:30 Timeband has a 30-minute break from 12:00 to 12:30.

If Breakdown Actuals = Yes, then PayGlobal generates two ordinary payments when you process Actuals:

  • 09:00 to 12:00
  • 12:30 to 16:30

The Current Actual Allowance table will contain two transactions. The company can determine daily wage costs in hourly segments in the Labour Budgeting spreadsheet.
