Anchoring

Summary

Anchoring is based on the roster time. It defines the acceptable threshold for swipe times associated with shifts, breaks and transfers.

If there is no roster, then PayGlobal uses Rounding to modify clock swipes.

Example

For example, a roster shift runs from 08:00 - 16:00 and anchoring is set up as follows:

Anchoring

Before

After

Shift Start/End

15 minutes

10 minutes

An employee swipes in at 08:07.

Anchoring uses the following logic:

  • The anchoring parameters are 15 minutes before and 10 minutes after shift start.
  • 08:07 is within the anchoring parameters so PayGlobal anchors the swipe to the roster.
  • The rostered start time for the employee is recorded as 08:00.

If an employee swipes in at 08:23, the swipe is still associated with the roster shift start but it is marked as an exception because it falls outside the anchoring threshold. PayGlobal then applies rounding to this swipe and processes it normally.
