Import Clock Data

Time & Attendance | Import Clock Data command

Summary

Various types of clocking devices create raw clock data. Use the Import Clock Data command to import raw data to the clock transactions file. The file in its raw state will need to have further processes run before the information can be used in Daily View.

Employees may swipe a clock card in a clocking device whenever they start or end a shift, transfer locations or take breaks. The clocking device accumulates these times in a file that is imported into PayGlobal from where they are converted to timebands. Usually, the importing of clock data would be automated by setting up PayGlobal Scheduler to import it at specific times.

What does this command do?

When this command is used, PayGlobal looks at the Clocks entity to determine which clocks are enabled, and the specified import files (file name and pathing must be correct) within each clock record.

An audit log appears after this command has been run. This audit log indicates:

  • The number of transactions that have been imported.
  • That the upload and import data for all clocks has been completed.
  • Any problems with the import.

To view Clock data
in Daily View

After clock data has been successfully imported into PayGlobal from your clocking device, use the Process Clock Data command. This enables you to view the clock data in Daily View.

Troubleshooting

The Import Details tab page of the Clocks entity configures the name and location of the clock file that will be imported.

The most common cause of clock data not importing is that the data path in the Clocks file is set incorrectly. The data path is set in the Import Details tab of the Clocks entity. It should point to the Clock folder of your PayGlobal database.
