User Profiles - Self-Service

Administration | Security | User Profiles | Self-Service tab

Summary

The Self-Service tab allows you to specify ESS Administrator security settings for the User Profile.

Fields

Self-Service Admin:

Yes/No field that determines whether or not this User Profile can access ESS as an Administrator account.

ESS Fail count:

This field records the number of consecutive failed login attempts by this user on the ESS Administration site.

When the user successfully logs into the Administration site, their ESS Fail count is reset to zero. However, after three failed login attempts (ESS Fail count = 3), PayGlobal shuts out the user and no further login attempts are allowed. A supervisor user has to reset the ESS Fail count to zero before the user can log into the ESS Administration site again.

Multi-Factor Authentication:

Read only field that displays either Registered or Unregistered to identify which User Profiles have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) setup and in effect.

  • Registered - 2FA has been setup for this user profile, and is actively using 2FA to log in.
  • Unregistered - 2FA has not been setup by the user at this stage and will be requested to setup when the user next signs in. Once setup has been completed, this field will update to 'Registered'.

A reset button is also displayed next to this field. Use this to set the status back to 'Unregistered', requiring the user to setup 2FA again when the user next logs in.

The reset button is only enabled if the status is set to 'Registered'.

Important: Setting the 'Self-Service Admin' flag to 'No' after previously having setup 2FA for the User Profile will not Unregister the profile from 2FA. If the account is reinstated to be a ESS Admin, then the previous 2FA code will continue to function.

Use the reset button to ensure the account is required to setup a new 2FA method.
