Salary Bands - Details

Summary

Salary Bands create broad categories of Job Sizes so that Positions will fall into a specified range. Use the Details tab to associate the Salary Band with the Job Evaluation Method it is based on.

Enter a user defined index for this Band. For example, an organisation's remuneration strategy may use the following structure:

  • 15 band levels (A to O)
  • Job Evaluations survey two different market segments - retail and  manufacturing).

This organisation would set up two Bands with fifteen levels in each. The banding structure would be:

  • Retail A
  • Retail B etc

    -and-

  • Manufacturing A
  • Manufacturing B etc.

The Band Index field is then used to specify the band level (A - O) that each Work Area Position falls into.

Job Evaluation Method

Several Consulting firms have developed Job Evaluation Methods which calculate the relative placement of a Work Area Position within an organisation. Any Work Area Positions using the Job Evaluation Method set here will automatically transfer to the Work Area Positions tab page of a Salary Band.
