Summary |
The Cycle-type accrual methods are more commonly used in Australia than in New Zealand. They allow you to do a 'mini roll over' within the sick leave cycle. For example:
Cycle-type accrual methods significantly affect your Payroll system, as explained in the following sections. |
New employees |
When PayGlobal processes a new employee, it checks that they are attached to a sick leave table. If the sick leave table Accrual method = "Cycle" or "Y-Cycle Fixed", then the employee's: Sick leave End date = Start date + Cycle length – 1 day Note: PayGlobal does not check existing employees. |
Existing employees |
You need to check that existing employees are attached to a sick leave table. If the sick leave table Accrual method = "Cycle" or "Y-Cycle Fixed", then the employee's: Cycle end date = Start date + Cycle length – 1 day |
Changing employee sick leave details |
If you change a sick leave table Accrual method to "Cycle" or "Y-Cycle Fixed", then you need to change the employee's sick leave End date: New sick leave End date = Accrual method change date + Cycle Length - 1 day. If you want to change a sick leave table Accrual method from "Cycle" or "Y-Cycle Fixed" to another method, then before you change the table, you need to delete the employee's sick leave End date and Total hours paid. |
Modelling sick leave fields |
If an employee is attached to a sick leave table with Accrual method = "Cycle" or "Y-Cycle Fixed", then you can still model the employee's End date or Total hours paid fields to other employee records. However, you must check that the employees you are modeling to are also attached to a sick leave table with Accrual method = "Cycle" or "Y-Cycle Fixed". If the employees are attached to a table that uses another type of accrual method, then do not model the End date or Total hours paid fields to them. If you model a cycle-type sick leave table to other employees, then PayGlobal will ensure that the dates are correct. |
Employee sick leave fields |
If an employee's sick leave table uses Accrual method = "Cycle" or "Y-Cycle Fixed", then the Total Cycle hours paid and Cycle end date fields appear on their sick leave tab. These fields contain the cycle hours and the roll-over date for the current sick leave cycle. |
