Unlock System

Summary

Before you perform routine maintenance tasks such as reindexing or backing up your data, you need to run the Lock System command to gain exclusive access and prevent data corruption. You can apply the following types of lock:

After you complete your maintenance tasks, you must unlock PayGlobal to allow other users access.

Important: an eject lock created in Tables/User Status can not be removed from the Unlock System menu. This is controlled from the right click menu in Table/User Status.

Remove a Session Lock

You can remove a session lock by exiting PayGlobal or by running the Unlock System command.

  1. Double-click the Unlock System command.
  2. Click the Session button.

    The following message appears: "Current session lock removed."

  3. Click OK.

Remove a Permanent Lock

You must run the Unlock System command before you exit PayGlobal or you will lock yourself out of the application.

  1. Double-click the Unlock System command.
  2. Click the Permanent button.

    The following message appears: "Permanent lock removed."

  3. Click OK.

If you lock yourself out of PayGlobal, then you need to remove the permanent lock before you use PayGlobal.

  1. Log on using the hr.exe /unlockperm switch.

    The following message appears: "Permanent lock removed."

  2. Log on to PayGlobal as usual.
