Shift Timebands - Advanced

Rostering | Shifts | Details tab | Add or Edit Shift Timebands | Advanced tab

Overview

The Advanced tab on the Shift Timeband is only used in the event that you need to specify a particular Anchor Group or Break code for that shift.

As with all rostering related entities, if you do not specify anything on the Advanced tab, PayGlobal assumes the Anchor Group/Break code from the employee master file is used.

When an Anchor Group/Break code are specified. These override those specified on the employee master file.

Example:

In residential nursing, a company may have a rotational roster that involves:

4 afternoons

4 nights

4 afternoons

4 mornings

4 afternoons

4 mornings

4 days off

4 days off

4 days off

The employee would generally be set-up with a relative break to take a 30 minute break after 5 hours.

A common situation is that private nursing institutions state that due to staffing numbers the night shift does not have an unpaid break.

In this situation it recommended to create 3 Shift codes (using very generic names):

  • MORNING - 07:00 - 15:30
  • AFTERNOON 15:00 - 23:30
  • NIGHT 23:00 - 07:00, specifying a Break Code on the Advanced tab to indicate NO BREAK to be taken.
