Anchor Groups

Time & Attendance | Anchor Groups

Summary

PayGlobal needs Anchor Groups to process clock times. Employee rosters contain expected start and end times, breaks and transfers. These usually differ from the clock times that the employee actually swipes. Anchor groups contain rules for modifying the swipe times so that they fit the roster template. Set up these parameters to match your company's clock processing requirements.

PayGlobal will always try to 'anchor' clock times before applying rounding rules.

Anchor Groups have three components
  • Anchoring
  • Rounding
  • Miscellaneous

Using Anchor Groups

Anchoring rules are set up in the Anchoring section of the Time Anchoring & Rounding tab page.

The Anchor Group is then attached to an employee in the employee record.

Navigate to Employees | T&A/Rostering | Actuals | Details.

Anchor groups are used to manage the anchoring and rounding of actual clock data. When the Process Clock Data command is run, and an anchor group is set up in PayGlobal, the actual clock times swiped by the employee will either be anchored or rounded in accordance with the anchor group set up.

If you are in Daily View, you can access anchor groups by using the Global List (Alt+G). However, any changes you make will not take effect until you close Daily View and then reopen it.

Example

This example uses an Anchoring Start before time, set in the Time Anchoring & Rounding tab, of 00.14. This means that if an employee clocks in up to 14 minutes before their rostered start time, the clock time will be anchored to the employee's rostered start time for the day.

Wendy Buller is rostered to start at 08:00. She physically clocks in at 07:49. Because 07:49 falls within 14 minutes of her rostered start time of 08:00, the clock in time is anchored and changed to 08:00.

This is useful in a business situation when employees arrive at work early, clock in, and then sit in the cafeteria until the rostered start time.

Anchoring also works for an Anchoring End after time. If an employee clocks out after the specified time, the clocking will be anchored using the employee's rostered finish time for the day.
