Summary

Items are those things that are allocated to an employee for the purposes of carrying out the appointed duties of their job.

For example,

  • Keys
  • Credit or staff cards
  • Cell phone
  • Laptop computer

This entity records a description of an item. It is not the actual item. The actual item that is issued to an employee is recorded in the Issue Details tab page of an employee record.

Staff cards and credit cards

PayGlobal can use a credit card algorithm to generate an identification number for credit cards issued to employees. This ensures that every card will have a unique, validated number.

An algorithm is a mathematical formula embedded in the program that:

  • Validates a card number
  • Generates the next card number according to the algorithm formula

To record a credit or staff discount card using an algorithm:

  1. Select the Details tab page of the Issued Item.
  2. Complete the following fields:
Generate Item ID:

Select Yes to use an algorithm to generate a new number.

Validation Algorithm:

Select Credit Card to use the standard credit card algorithm. This is the accepted standard internationally for use with credit cards.

Last Item ID:

Automatically generated by PayGlobal. This is the last identification number issued for an issued item that uses a credit card algorithm.

Discount Cards

Sometimes employees are eligible for staff discount cards. Use the Issuable Items area to store a Discount Card record. Discount cards are allocated to employees in the Employee Issued Items - Issue Details area.
