Summary

This entity records general details about items that may be issued to employees. It does not record any information about a particular item that is issued. Information regarding the issue of particular items is recorded in the Issue Details tab page of an employee record.

The settings on this tab page relate to an issued item such as a credit or staff card that uses an algorithm to generate a unique identification number. An algorithm is an accepted mathematical formula that creates identification numbers.

PayGlobal can also be used to record staff discount cards. For more information on issuing staff discount cards, see How to Issue a Discount Card to Employees.

Generate Item ID:

• Yes

  This field generates the next number calculated by the chosen generation method (credit card algorithm or sequential order). When an item is issued to an employee, you can type in any number followed by an asterisk (*). PayGlobal will then automatically find the next valid number and generate this as the identification number for the item that has been issued to the employee.

• No

  You can manually enter the identification number for this issued item.

Validation algorithm

PayGlobal currently supports the credit card algorithm only. If Credit Card is selected here, on saving, PayGlobal checks that the identification number is valid according to the selected algorithm.

Last item number

If you use validation algorithms to generate unique card or time numbers, PayGlobal tracks the last number used here. This number is updated each time that a card is assigned.

Item type

Selecting Discount Card here enables you to edit the Employee Issued Items - Card Details tab page in the employee record. This tab page holds the name and cardholder relationship of the person holding the discount card.
