Employees - UDA Breakdowns

Employees | Payroll | Breakdowns | UDA Breakdown tab

Summary

The purpose of the UDA Breakdown tab is to display the data calculated as a result of settings defined in Leave Defaults and Modify Company Settings.

For New Zealand databases this allows your database to be compliant with the NZ Holidays Act 2003. This was actioned as part of the April 2004 Tax Year-End upgrade procedures. If your database did not exist until after 1 April 2004 this will have been completed as part of your implementation.

This tab updates employee records with new UDA breakdown data on pay closure for employees that have allowance or deduction transactions in the closed pay sequence.

UDA breakdown records can also be created using the following:

  • Create UDA Breakdowns command
  • Imported via Synchronisation
  • Entered manually.

UDA breakdown data is editable. If the employees screen is changed to Edit mode you can enter data into a UDA breakdown record. When you do this, a new screen will display called Employee UDA Breakdowns.

Rates - NZ Holidays Act

You can use this tab to help you manually calculate the rates used for payment of leave.

For example, lets say you need to work out an employee's Ordinary pay rate in hours.

Where PayGlobal is concerned the formula for this calculation is Earnings / Hours worked for the last 4 calendar weeks.

If today is 30/06/2009 and you run a weekly payroll, you need to look for the UDA breakdown records for Ordinary Pay 4 UDA and Ordinary Pay 4 (hours) UDA created between 01/06/2009 and 30/06/2009.

Add together the Earnings (Ordinary Pay 4 UDA), then add together the Hours worked (Ordinary Pay 4 (hours) UDA), then lastly divide the Earnings by the Hours worked.

If any pay sequences have not yet been closed in this date range, then neither you nor PayGlobal will be able to generate an accurate value.
