Close a Training Plan

Summary

Training plans fulfill the following functions:

  • Connect an employee's development needs identified in Performance Management with their attending and completing a course to address that need. In this respect, training plans are a tool to manage competency acquisition through nominations and Course Management.
  • Provide an independent means of recording and managing an employee's development.

When you close a training plan, PayGlobal can automatically update the employee's record with any associated competencies and qualifications. Closing a training plan is similar to closing a course.

If you use training plans independently from Course Management, then the training plan is simply a tool to:

  • Record an employee's development requirements
  • Update the employee's record with any associated competencies and qualifications when they complete the training plan.

This topic explains how to close a Training Plans record when you use Course Management, and when you do not use Course Management.

Scenario: Using Course Management

This scenario assumes that you:

When you closed the course, PayGlobal automatically added Course and Course end date values to the employee's Training Plan Competencies | Details tab.

  1. In the PayGlobal Tree, navigate to Human Resources | Learning & Development | Planning | Training Plans.
  2. Double-click the required Training Plans record to open it.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. On the Competencies Addressed tab, double-click a Training Plan Competencies record to view it.
  5. On the Training Plan Competencies | Details tab, check the following values:
    • Course
    • Course end date.
  6. Click Save + Close.
  7. Right-click the Training Plans form to see the menu, and click Close Training Plan.

    A Confirm message appears about the competencies and qualifications that PayGlobal will transfer to the employee's record.

  8. Click Yes to:
    • Close the training plan (PayGlobal changes Plan status to "Closed" and Actual Completion Date to today's date)
    • Update the employee's record with any associated competencies and qualifications.

      Note: If you click "No", then you will just return to the Training Plans form.

  9. Click Save + Close.

Scenario: Not Using Course Management

This scenario assumes that you:

  • Do not use Course Management.
  • Manually added competencies to the training plan
  • Did not create a nomination from the training plan.

This scenario follows the same process as the previous example, but when the employee completes their training plan, you have to manually enter the following values to their Training Plan Competencies | Details tab:

  • Course
  • Course end date.
